Valentines guide
So here it is, the time of year for the romantic population to demonstrate their love by gifting flowers, jewellery or a hand in marriage!
As I don’t have a shop or sell bouquets myself I am in a position to offer you unbiased advice. I thought I’d put together a little guide of what will be on offer this Valentine’s and how much you should expect to pay if you are a Londoner! Feel free to forward this on to friends and partners!
Red Roses
So the most traditional flower to gift would be the red Rose. There are loads of different varieties of red Rose but my favourite and most popular would be the red Naomi. A gorgeous rich red which has a very delicate scent, these are really strong, high quality roses which should last you up to 7 days. When it comes to red roses prices are incredibly high, the more expensive the bouquet then the higher the grade/quality of the rose. Most high end London florists will use Naomi and you should expect to pay in the region of £150.00 for a dozen. Less expensive red rose bouquets are available but be very careful, you get what you pay for!
Single red rose
A simple and effective option would be to send a single red rose, a much more affordable gift at around £12, this would come beautifully gift wrapped with a little seasonal foliage and branches. A great alternative.
Coloured Roses
If you definitely want to send roses but are happy to use other colours then there are so many to choose from. Hot pinks, soft pinks, orange, white, green, the list is endless. The other big bonus here would be the cost, I expect you would be paying almost a third less than a red rose bouquet at around £100.00 for a dozen.
Red bouquet
So you want to send red flowers but cant afford all roses. Ask your florist to create a simple hand tied bouquet using a selection of red flowers. Tulips, Anemones, Amaryllis and red Skimmia are all widely available at the moment and dependent on how much you were able to pay they could probably include a few red roses also! Expect to pay around £75.
Mixed Handtied bouquet
Working on the same principle as the red hand tied bouquet, there is such a wide selection of flowers to chose from that someone couldn’t help but be impressed after receiving a gorgeous mixed hand tied bouquet. Again I would expect to pay £75.
Spring bunches
My final option is a really popular choice and probably my favourite. Ask your florist to put together a gorgeous, sweet scented and colourful bunch of Spring flowers for you. There are so many varieties available at the moment and they come in lovely big chunky bunches so you get plenty of bang for your buck! Expect to pay around £50.00 but you could get something for as little as £30.00.
Competition
If you dont know already we are running our very own Valentine’s competition. If you are London based and active on Twitter or Instagram then you could win our Acid House bouquet. Jump onto the Valentines page on our website to find out more information and get involved.
That is it, I hope this little guide has been helpful. Remember its not the size of the hammer but the power of the punch, whatever you do for Valentines and whoever you spend it with I hope you enjoy the love!
