February 2015

Hi everyone! February has been a really great month with a fun event and a really successful photoshoot under our belt, it felt like a giant step forward!

The Trampery Old Street, Petal to the Metal photo shoot

The Trampery Old Street in Londons tech city

As a new business it is important that I have interesting and varied photos that demonstrate the quality and standard of event work that we want to do. With this in mind I approached The Trampery Old Street which is a really fantastic location, essentially a business-hub and venue targeting the tech industry in the heart of Tech City. The interiors are a mix of mid century meets modern industrial with a side of quirky for good measure.

I didn’t plan anything too adventurous, no flower walls or enormous groups. What I wanted to do was provide a selection of images and set ups that were accessible for both corporate and private clients. I worked on a daytime and evening set up which I hope the images clearly demonstrate.

For each set up I was careful to take into consideration the room decor, colours and whether there were any key features I needed to consider. The boardroom is a perfect example of this with an enormous mid century wooden boardroom table surrounded by muted orange and blue toned chairs. The setting was just perfect to match our mixed domes of Roses with and the smoked glass vases were an obvious choice.

Another consideration is what is the event for?  Business or pleasure? Does the event require impressive or gentle embellishment? The reception area was a good example with a smart, contemporary ‘welcome’ collection of vases placed on the reception desk throughout the day, moving to a more dramatic evening function using tall chrome columns with a linear display of impressive Green Goddess Calla lilies.

I hope the images and my explanation help, in a simple way, to understand the process of designing flowers for an event. There are more images for you to see on my website.

Concorde Media – The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Promotion of Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Our traditional Indian bride baring gifts

London based Event company Concorde Media invited us to help them with the promotion for the release of  the film, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. It was definitely one of the most unusual requests we have had which obviously made it all the more appealing!

The Promotion – The event took place throughout central London. We were tasked with creating 100 gift wrapped bunches of Marigolds which we helped to deliver alongside a fleet of branded TukTuks Each one carrying models dressed in traditional Indian wedding attire, delivering offerings of flowers and gifts to a selection of media owners throughout central London from glossy magazines to radio stations and national newspapers.

Following a pair of Tuk Tuks throughout central London is definitely one of the most hilarious jobs I have had as a florist, circling around the Queen Victoria monument outside Buckingham Palace to get the perfect photo opportunity was a highlight!

The promotion proved a great success for the film company and generated plenty of awareness and lots of great social media moments.

So that was it for February and not a mention of Valentines! Oh….sorry. I hope you enjoyed my round up of activities and I look forward to checking in with you next month.

Love
